Perry White, a southern California native, was bitten by the design bug at a very young age. As a small child, Perry would shadow his mother as she crafted custom clothing for private clients as a means of supporting herself and two young children. At only 12 years old, White quickly became known in his community as the designer that would make clothes for ladies who wanted to look as glamorous as what they saw on TV.
As a young adult, while attending LATT, White designed and produced a collection of menswear that was showcased at the world-famous Fred Siegel Melrose Store. Perry went on to obtain his degree in fashion, graduating with the prestigious LATT Gold Thimble Award.
Perry then moved to New York where he was sought out by Demo Sportswear as the Creative Director with the intent of building his career there on 7th Ave. However, one year later Perry was offered the opportunity to start his own brand back in his home town of Los Angeles. He seized the chance and the Perry White collection quickly caught the attention of Nordstrom. Nordstrom carried the collection in their stores across the country.
Soon after the collections Nordstrom debut, celebrities such as Prince, Macy Gray, Queen Latifah, Snoop Dogg, and LL Cool J among others, were lining up to wear the Perry White brand in both custom and off the rack designs.
Perry has since gone on to design for companies such Guess, Arden B. and Bebe, in addition to adding countless celebrity clients to his customer roster. Perry has recently launched a collection that lives under his philosophy that “Fashion is a spirit that dwells within us all… set your spirit free.” The collection is once again continuing to be sought after by the Hollywood elite, with the same spirit and spark of the 12-year-old designer ready to take on the world.
